Okay, this is ridiculous! 5 months ago was my last post. I decided that I needed to start posting again and get my booty off facebook and emails!
This past February, we went to Cozumel, which was an amazing trip. The kids were great on the airplanes and had so much fun at the pool and beach at our resort. Addyson loved riding in the cabs without a carseat and she still talks about that! We had so much fun with all of our family. Both sets of grandparents got to enjoy the kids and Tim and I even got to go out on our own with the rest of the cousins to enjoy a few nights of partying at Senor Frog's. It was great, and I would love to go back sometime.
Addyson turned 4 in April and to celebrate, we had a party at a Cubs-Brewers game at Miller Park. The family celebrated at the tailgate with lots of food and cake. It was still pretty chilly here in Wisconsin, but we survived and got to see the Cubs win! We then had a little party for her with a few friends so that she could have her princess cake, since I made her get a Cubs cake for her birthday at the game. She really had a great 4th birthday and is already talking about her 5th birthday! When will she finally realize that getting older really isn't that much fun....LOL!
We have had some water issues again this Spring, but not to the extent of last year....yet! We have a lot of stagnant water sitting next to our house and we went ahead and sandbagged the east side of our home just as a precaution. Even though we haven't had the 7 inch rain we had last June, Mother Nature has her own plans and we certainly do not want to go through the stress of watching the water build next to our house again. We are hoping the sandbags can hold back that water if it gets to that point. We just didn't feel like we could rely on the Town to save us....they have made it pretty clear that we are all on our own in some aspects. They were helpful in giving us the sandbags and sand, but we had to fill them and place them ourselves. But hey, it was a great workout for Tim, Pat and me. :O)
May is here, along with a fresh confirmed case of Swine flu in Oconomowoc. haha! Last Friday, the high school and two middle schools closed due to the 18 year old who has the "dreaded" flu. The YMCA closed to prevent the spread of it and so that the kids don't congregate there and cause more spreading of it. Some people are really in a frenzy about it, but aren't there always new cases of the flu every year? 36,000 people die from the flu and its complications every year....the media has really turned some people into lunatics over it. One person claimed they were nervous that the swine flu was coming through the water pipes at the YMCA pool since the confirmed case was a lifeguard at the Y. Come on, people! Get a grip on reality! It is what it is. To keep yourself from getting it....wash your hands, stay away from people who are sick, use common sense, stressing over what is coming through the pipes at the Y really isn't going to keep you from getting sick! Gees! The last place I would worry about getting it from is the heavily chlorinated water at the YMCA pool. LOL! I have no problem with people taking precautions, to each their own, but to start creating ways that you may get it is kind of out of control in my opinion. Okay, I will get off my soapbox about this swine flu.
Mother's Day is only a few days away, and we have a fun weekend coming up....Friday night, Cubs-Brewers game at Miller Park with our neighbors, dinner with my DZ sisters in Algonquin on Saturday, and Sunday morning breakfast and church with Rose and the Thompson family. It should be a fun , fun weekend! Hope I am not too exhausted and hungover all weekend. I have to get my tolerance back....especially for this summer. :O)
